Ameren has the Illinois Business Energy Efficiency Program which provides a free assessment of the facility with a high-level overview and energy efficiency recommendations. ComEd

ComEd offers free assessments tailored to industry-specific needs. Businesses complete a facility assessment request form and then work with a ComEd representative to schedule a site visit for one of their engineers. The assessment takes approximately two hours, and three to four weeks after the completion of the assessment, ComEd will send their energy efficiency recommendation. This document does a thorough job of providing estimated energy savings, cost savings, project cost estimates and potential incentives. A business’s energy demand must be 100KW or higher to participate. More information can be found by visiting:

MidAmerican

MidAmerican provides the Commercial Energy Solutions program offering energy assessments and building optimization services to help businesses become more energy efficient. The energy assessment includes a review of the facility followed by a report that provides a recommended action plan, anticipated project costs, estimated savings and a list of possible rebates. Smaller projects down to no cost changes fall under their building optimization offering. This part of the program offers building tune-ups and retrocommissioning.

Natural Gas

Nicor

Nicor’s energySMART program starts with an energy advisor or engineer visiting a business’s property to conduct a free assessment. Along with gathering information about the property and the manner in which business is conducted, the inspector may also install free energy-saving products. After the assessment, a report is delivered with energy efficiency recommendations, product and project cost estimations and information on applicable rebates.

Depending on the volume of natural gas a business consumes, there are different inspections that will take place ranging from one to three hours in length.

North Shore

North Shore’s Small Business program offers free onsite assessments and energy efficient products. After completing their site inspection, businesses receive a report summary detailing everything from free energy efficiency options to upgrades, rebates, and even a cost-benefit analysis on potential projects.
